About Friends of Wrightsville Beach
Our Mission
As a grassroots organization, our mission is quite simple.
Throughtout the Cape Fear area, we promote & support :
- Our Watersports activities, which we are fortunate to enjoy everyday. Each of these activities allow us to live healthy, active & rewarding lives in this amazing coastal area.
- Our Environment, because without a clean environment, we have no watersports or healthy lives for each of us and those that follow.
- Our Community, as we respect it and are thankful for those before us & hopeful for those after us.
Join us, us as we celebrate life on the water & the people that share it with us in the Cape Fear region!
Our Programs
Since 2018 we have financially supported such groups as these listed below. For 2024 we've more than doubled this number.
- Wrightsville Beach Waterman Hall of Fame
- Wrightsville Beach Museum
- Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue
- Surfer's Healing NC
- Jimmy's Bike Drive Wrightsville Beach
- Marshall Morgan Project.
Our annual event is a fundraiser, where we have highlighted watersports such as surfing, fishing, paddlesports, sailing, diving, boating & ocean rescue in the Cape Fear area. For 2024 we held our inaugural Fins Up Festival (see pages of this event) where we hosted environmental & educational groups including these listed.

We are a completely Volunteer organization. 100% of our proceeds are devoted to our fund-raising efforts to better our community & support the many worthy groups with which we partner.

Volunteer Opportunities
Our 100% volunteer organization is dedicated to our beach community & we are more than thankful for each of their contributions. Our group ranges from a core group of longtime Wrightsville Beach "lifers" that help us organize and host our events to the entire watersports community that particpates in every watersport known, to the many photographers that post to our Facebook group providing lifestyle, landscape, sunrise & sunset & active watersports images of events and just daily beachlife.
